Pulling a fast one on your kids for April Fool’s Day can be so gratifying. Get in on the fun with a family friendly trick. This one takes the cake or should I say takes the cupcake! No child can resist a delicious cupcake unless it is FAKE!
To pull off this April Fool’s prank you will need a few items from your local hardware store. I bet you that the sales associate never had this question asked before. How many cans of spray foam insulation will I need to make 6 cupcakes? What?? His blank stare said it all. Then I explained my hilarious plan.
Supply list:
Spray Foam Insulation
PreMixed Dry Wall Joint Compound
Cupcake liners
Food Coloring if desired
Sprinkles
Here are a few tips to help you make this more successful. First, the spray foam expands quite a lot so don’t fill the cupcake liners to the top. Trying filling them about 2/3 of the way. Second, do as I say and not as I do and wear gloves. This stuff is so sticky and doesn’t wash off easily! Third, plan ahead because you will need it to cure a minimum of 6 hours before you start decorating. I made mine during nap time and then finished them after the kids went to bed. Finally, I used a cake decorating tip to pipe out the dry wall compound so it looks real. Mixing in food coloring is optional. You may want some real cupcakes on hand to swap out after the disappointment.
We did some other small pranks throughout the day, too. Those included frozen cereal, pop-its snap fireworks under the toilet seat, hair-sprayed toilet paper, color bath dropz in faucet, fake spider under sheets, and cotton balls in shoes to short shoe. I may have made them a little paranoid.
Overall, the whole day was so much fun. The kids started thinking of ways to pull their own pranks too. Will they succeed?? To be continued. Comment below with your favorite prank of all time.
