Show me your door! While walking the halls to your stateroom you will notice a common theme. Just about every door is decorated with magnets. It’s a Disney thing and something you will want to participate due to the fear of missing out. Lots of people take pride in their doors and really go all out. I mean decorating their door and even the wall next to their door. It really is a lot of fun and the magnets also helped my boys identify which door was ours. They ran ahead of us down the hall every. single. time.
You can choose to make your own magnets or buy them online like from a Etsy shop. The only rule to decorating your door is that you can only use magnets. You door and walls inside your stateroom are all magnetic too. We usually purchase a printable design online from Etsy then print, laminate, and apply magnet strips at home. Super easy! This year we purchased from CoCoBeans again and the bats from Mouse House Printables. Both sellers were super easy to work with and do great work.
So now that you got the gist of what it is all about, let’s take your magnet making a step further and make light up magnets! I can’t tell you how many people commented on our door and stopped in the hallway to take a look at it before pointing it out to friends and family.
Here is your supply list:
- Printable design
- White Cardstock Paper
- Laminating Supplies
- Wooden Circles (thin)
- Battery Powered Fairy Lights
- Circle Magnets
- Hot Glue Gun
Once you gather all the supplies, start by printing, cutting, and laminating your design. Once you have your final image cut out, hot glue a wooden circle to the back. Then glue the battery pack to the middle of the wood. Next starting from the middle, wrap the lights around and hot glue as you go. Super easy! Finally hot glue your magnets onto the battery pack or wood and you are good to go. I purchased extra batteries so I could leave them turned on the whole time.
Check out some of these awesome doors for more inspiration and share yours with us too. We would love to see what you come up with. Happy Cruising!
Mouse House Printables is currently not selling on Etsy. Can you send me a copy of the bat you have? I have looked elsewhere but don’t like the wings on all the items I have found. 🙁
