Expectations
From the moment you walk past the gate, your child’s eyes will be drawn to all the pretty shiny new toys. To avoid a meltdown, set expectations with your children before entering the coliseum. For us that means that they can use their own money or sometimes we will let them pick one item each. You could also ask the grandparents if they want to contribute to the fun or gift an early birthday present.
Did you know that some collectibles and light up wands can be purchased online before you attend? During the check out process, you can pick to add on the Mickey Light-Up Wand, Snowflake Light-Up Wand, and The Official Disney On Ice presents Dream Big Souvenir Tag.
Also set expectations to prepare them for sitting or standing at their seat for 1.5 to 2 hours. There is a short intermission for quick bathroom breaks and a chance to get the wiggles out. I will have to say though that the show is very entertaining and my boys were glued to watching it. I didn’t have to worry about them getting squirrely. Disney has a way to captivate the attention of the audience like no other show we have ever been too.
Arrive Early
Plan to arrive early so you don’t feel rushed or hurried. The parking lot can fill up pretty fast so you may have to walk a ways to get in. Plus there are photo opportunities, souvenir shopping, snacks to buy, and a bathroom break needed before making your way to your seats. Doors open one hour prior to the start of the show. If attending the Belle and Mickey VIP experience, plan to arrive 75 minutes before the show time.
Parking
Parking is a available at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum for $6 for general parking. Preferred parking is $10 while buses and RVs are $18. Plan to arrive early as the traffic to get into the parking lots are generally backed up. You can enter the parking areas off Coliseum Blvd and Parnell Ave.
