May The 4th Star Wars Party Ideas

Calling all Star Wars fans! Do you celebrate Stars Day with your kids? We are huge Disney fans and recently started watching all the current Star Wars movies in order. It was actually the perfect time to binge-watch each one since we were on shelter in place orders due to the COVID19 pandemic.
It seems like May the 4th Star Wars Day is celebrated more and more each year. We had dressed up in Star Wars gear and posed for photos in the past but nothing too elaborate. Given the fact that we are living in a challenging time with the current pandemic, I decided that we needed more JOY in our lives. So we went for it!

There are tons and tons of crafts and activities that you can find on Pinterest or through organizations. We actually followed along with the planned activities from The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis like Yoda Yoga and creating your own critter from another galaxy.

Table Decorations

Since most stores were closed to the public and Amazon was running slower than normal, we did the best we could with decorations. I tried to be resourceful and use their toys as decorations along with past party supplies. It actually didn’t turn out too bad. We purchased most of the plates and cups from curbside pick-ups at Target. On the cups, I used my Cricut machine to add the Star Wars logo.

  • Star Wars Plates – Target
  • White Plates – Target
  • Grey Placemats – Target
  • Napkins – Party City
  • Napkin Ring Printable – Etsy
  • Black Tumbler – Target
  • Table Runner – Fabric from Joann
  • Star Wars Felt Gift Bags – Hallmark (previously purchased)
  • Hanging Decorations – Party City

Cheese Fondue

We tried our first ever cheese fondue and we were in love! I found a great recipe online and will share it soon. The boys loved dipping all the different foods into the cheese. Each of the boys had a favorite dipper and surprisingly they all liked something different. Here is a list of the items that we included for dipping.

  • Sourdough Bread
  • French Bread
  • Ham
  • Chicken
  • Pigs in a blanket
  • Meatballs
  • Salami
  • Roasted Potatoes
  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Apples

Dessert Table

The decorations included a simple balloon garland along with a few banners purchased from Party City. We also used some more of their Star Wars toys and a lightbox on the table. Sometimes less is more but we really didn’t have a choice this time around.

We whipped up some simple desserts to go along with the Star Wars theme. My favorite was the Star Wars chocolates that we purchased from a local bakery called Sweets So Geek. On the menu was Leia Cinnamon Rolls, Wookie Cookies, Pretzel Lightsabers, Star Wars Chocolates, Tie Fighter Cookies, and Lightsaber Cupcakes

Face Masks

Since we are in a time when masks are required, I made some fun Star Wars themed ones for the whole family. The boys haven’t been out but will need them for doctor and dentist visits or in case of an emergency. Check out my complete tutorial on how to make them at DIY Cloth Face Masks With Filter For The Whole Family – Disney Inspired.

The smiles on their faces and the time together celebrating as a family helped us to forget about what was going on in the world if just for a short time. It was all worth it! We plan to make this a tradition every year. Share ideas in the comments of some of your favorite Star Wars party ideas.
