Feeling Lucky? St Patrick’s Day is less than a month away and everyone could use a little green to celebrate the occasion. However, decorating for the holiday does not have to look tacky or cheap. Just say NO to the tinsel. Since Easter is earlier this year, some people may skip over St. Patrick’s Day but not here. Hopefully by sharing some tips and photos, you will find some inspiration to incorporate a little touch of Irish into your home too.
Gold and Green Mantle Decorations
The secret to decorating for St. Patrick’s Day is switching out the Winter items for Spring while adding a touch of gold and green shamrocks. When shopping the stores for those rare to find items, look for pieces that will stand the test of time. The tinsel items look cheap and probably won’t last more than a couple seasons. Some of my favorite stores to purchase items for this holiday have been Joann’s and Michael’s. Be sure to shop early because item selection is small and limited. Amazon is another great place to scroll but pay close attention to shipping times especially during a pandemic.

Lucky Front Porch
With no luck finding outdoor decorations for St Patrick’s Day, I resorted to making my own. This simple DIY doormat project was completed in just a couple hours with the help of my circuit machine creating a stencil and some acrylic paint. Two tips to making your own doormat is to paint or dab with up and down motions and to use a bamboo skewer to push down more paint into the rug. To finish off the space, we added a new welcome sign, gold ribbon to the wreath, and gold painted shamrock ornaments to the trees.

Splash of Green Entryway
The entryway gives the first impression of your home and sets the tone for the entire house. You can create an Irish welcome without overdoing the green with a few simple items.

Rainbow Tiered Tray
One of my newly found passions is styling this tiered tray for each holiday. There are so many possibilities and my biggest problem is getting my ideas to fit. Similar to Valentines Day, I continued the gnome trend then added some rainbows and gold accents.
