It’s a block party! Looking for some LEGOtastic birthday party ideas? You are in the right spot. We celebrated our youngest turning 5 with a sleepover party with a few friends. We built LEGO sets, watched The LEGO Movie, slept in Lego inspired tents, and of course there was cake. You could go in so many directions with co-themes of Superhero, City, Police, Movie, or even modern. We choose the classic color scheme. If you are ready to build an AWESOME party, then check out these party ideas.
Birthday Donut Tower
It is tradition for the morning of their birthday to start out with a donut cake tower. This is quickly becoming my favorite part especially since we found a really good donut place in town. Each stack of donuts is decorated to match their chosen party theme. This Happy Birthday LEGO cake topper from Made Happy worked perfect and we also used it for the birthday cake. The balloons were 5-inch balloons in rainbow colors tied to string on silver paper straws. These LEGO candles and rainbow confetti sprinkles finish off the overall look.
Tents
A sleepover is not a sleepover without a fun set up for all to sleep together. We started making these tents 5 years ago for a camping birthday party and continued to use them for family movie marathon nights, drive-in movies, and even fort building. Here is the super easy tutorial at DIY Christmas Movie Marathon Slumber Tent Party. For the Lego party, I just recovered them in bright primary-colored fabrics.
All the decorations made the set up complete including this balloon garland from Party City. The balloons really made it all POP and we plan to balloonify every tent set up in the future too. Besides the handmade LEGO banner made from cardstock paper, everything can be purchased for your next party too. Here is the complete list.

Cake Table Food & Decorations
A party without cake is just a meeting, so there had to be cake! We always Balloonify our table too and the color balloons along with the number 5 also came from Party City. The LEGO cake was made by our favorite bakery, Halls Takes the Cake and topped with the Made Happy cake topper. We also purchased the personalized LEGO letters from Made Happy too. Sweet Girly Girl Cookies did it again with these amazing LEGO cookies and Cake POPs by Maddie made us these adorable cake pops. Besides all that, we also served up popcorn for the movie and Lego block candy.

Birthday Shirt
Birthday shirts are still a must at this age. He wears them so proud at school to show everyone that it is his birthday. We found this adorable shirt on an Etsy shop called RoJo Custom Designs. Once their birthday is over, we save them as souvenirs.
Party Favors
Giving favors that are unique and lasting has been a goal of mine. These personalized pillowcases from The Goofy Gorilla were perfect for a sleepover party favor. The color and quality were great even after several washes. The pillowcase is on his bed right now and we use it all the time. Besides the pillowcases, each guest also took home a Lego kit and goodie bag full of themed items.
Birthday Presents
The only gift idea that we had for our LEGO loving boy was multiple sets of LEGOs. However, we added a layer of fun by wrapping all his presents to look like giant LEGO bricks. I wrapped each in primary colored wrapping paper and added cardstock circles to the top. It was a cute set up that was quickly torn into to but still worth it.
Do you have a LEGO loving kid too? I hope you find some inspiration here and let’s connect in the comments too.
